What is eye therapy?
Eye therapy is used to help manage and improve certain vision and eye coordination conditions.
It can include exercises, treatments and specialist support designed to help your eyes work together more effectively and reduce visual strain.
It's provided by an Orthoptist, a university-trained allied health professional who specialises in diagnosing and managing eye movement, coordination and visual function conditions, including;
- Strabismus (turned eye)
- Amblyopia (lazy eye)
- Diplopia (double vision)
- Eye movement abnormalities that may be of neurologic origin or result from trauma
Eye therapy and orthoptic services may be recommended for both children and adults depending on their symptoms and treatment needs.
Signs your eyes may be under strain
Many Australians spend long hours looking at screens every day, whether it’s for work, study or everyday life.
Over time, this can place extra strain on your eyes and affect how comfortably they function.
Some common signs your eyes may be under strain include;
- Headaches or tired eyes
- Blurred or double vision
- Difficulty focusing
- Eye discomfort after screen use
- Trouble reading or concentrating
- Sensitivity to light
If symptoms continue or begin affecting your day-to-day activities, your GP, Optometrist or specialist may recommend further assessment or treatment.
