Kieser Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Care Plans

The Kieser Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Care Plans are 14-week programs designed to;

  • Delay or prevent surgery
  • Reduce pain
  • Relieve symptoms
  • Improve function and quality of life

How does it work?

The programs are patient-centred and doctor-prescribed, and are founded on a broad and strong evidence-base to deliver superior patient outcomes.

The 14-week programs include;

  • Seven 1:1 Physiotherapy sessions (including initial assessment)
  • Eight 1:1 exercise science or exercise physiology sessions
  • Care coordination
  • Access to the Kieser App
  • Home exercise program
  • Education program
  • A discharge self-management plan

The following additional services are provided when appropriate;

  • Dietitian
  • Strengthening programs on Kieser's specialised equipment
  • Onward referral to a range of other health services

Who's eligible?

Our members with Gold Hospital or Gold Combined cover are eligible for these programs*. However, other clinical and non-clinical criteria applies.

Clinical Eligibility Criteria*

  • You are at risk of needing hip or knee replacement surgery  within the next 3  years, and  do not currently have surgery scheduled or planned.
  • You have moderate to severe joint pain (4/10 or higher for the past month).
  • You have diagnostic imaging confirming osteoarthritis.
  • Your doctor provides a referral confirming eligibility.

Additional criteria apply, and suitability of the Care Plan will be fully evaluated in your initial assessment with a Kieser Physiotherapist, if your GP thinks the Care Plan is suitable for you.
