Kieser Knee Osteoarthritis Program

Is knee osteoarthritis affecting your quality of life and are you looking for effective non-surgical ways to manage your condition and support your long-term health?
The Kieser Knee Osteoarthritis Program is designed to:
- Reduce pain and associated symptoms
- Prevent or delay knee joint replacement surgery
- Improve your ability to undertake everyday activities
- Provide a long-term plan to help self-manage knee osteoarthritis
How does it work?
This program is fully funded for the first 15 weeks for eligible members who have completed all relevant waiting periods and meet the program’s clinical and non-clinical eligibility criteria.
The first 15 weeks of the program includes:
- Nine (9) one-on-one physiotherapy sessions (including initial assessment)
- Eight (8) one-on-one strength training sessions with an exercise physiologist or exercise scientist
- A physiotherapist-designed, independent strength training program consisting of 26 sessions using Kieser equipment, supervised by Kieser's highly skilled allied health team
- Use of the Kieser Konnect app
- Education program on how to manage and live with your knee osteoarthritis
For long-term health benefits, ongoing training beyond the first 15 weeks is encouraged. Your Kieser clinician will discuss appropriate treatment and training options.
Who's eligible?
Our members with Gold Hospital or Gold Combined cover may be eligible for these programs*, subject to additional clinical and non-clinical criteria.
Kieser Knee Osteoarthritis Program inclusion criteria:
You may qualify for the program if:
- Your GP or medical specialist has identified you as being at risk of requiring a knee joint replacement surgery within the next three years, and you do not currently have surgery booked or planned.
- You have experienced moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis pain (rated 4/10 or higher) for at least the past month.
- You have diagnostic imaging that confirms knee osteoarthritis.
- Your doctor believes the program could significantly delay or potentially prevent the need for surgery and provides a referral confirming your eligibility.
To check your eligibility, contact Kieser https://www.kieser.com.au/health-funded-programs. Additional criteria apply, and your suitability for the Kieser Knee Osteoarthritis Program will be fully assessed during your initial consultation with a Kieser physiotherapist, provided your doctor has supplied a referral.
