While most extras services generally attract an 80% benefit with Police Health, complementary therapies receive a set benefit of $20 per consultation – the benefit cannot exceed the amount charged.
Benefit limits for complementary therapies fall within the combined maximum applying to chiropractic, naturopathy and acupuncture and now complementary therapies, which is $600 per person per calendar year. With in this limit, complementary therapies are also subject to a further sub-limit of $200 per person and $400 per family.
Police Health will only pay benefits for one consultation per service provider on any one day. This means if a service provider is recognised for more that one modality, say homoeopathy and aromatherapy, benefits will be paid for one service only on any one day.
Not all therapists are recognised by Police Health for claimable benefits.
While the vast majority of service providers practicing with an accredited therapy will be recognised by Police Health, not all providers are. Click here to find out whether your complementary therapy provider is recognised by Police Health.
