The easiest and most convenient way to claim your Government Rebate is in the form of reduced contributions direct from Police Health. Alternatively you can claim it on your tax return.

In April 2005, new legislation from the Federal Government is increasing the Private Health Insurance rebate from 30% to 35% for people aged between 65 and 69 years and to 40% for people age 70 years and older.

Which Rebate am I eligible for?
As a Police Health member you are eligible to receive the 30% Government Rebate on your contributions.

If either you or a person covered by your policy are aged 65 years to 69 years then you are eligible to receive the 35% Government Rebate on your contributions.

If either you or a person covered by your policy are aged 70 years or older then you are eligible to receive the 40% Government Rebate on your contributions.

Special provisions exist to safeguard families. When the oldest person leaves the membership, this provision allows those remaining on the membership to retain the higher level rebate (Conditions apply).

For example, a 65 year old, a 55 year old and two dependents on a family membership are now eligible for the 35% Rebate. If the 65 year old leaves the membership, those remaining on the membership (the 59 year old and two dependents) retain the 35% Rebate (Conditions apply).
