Current Directors
of Police Health are:
| Peter Shanahan (Chairman) |
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Shanahan of the Sexual Crime Investigation Branch joined SAPOL in 1975 and has been a member of the Police Health Board since 1995.
"Police Health is part of the policing family that includes Police Unions, Legacy and all of those other dedicated services that look after the people in our unique industry. Policing is a people focused industry and I am of the belief that there is social obligation on organisations to care for individuals, particularly in their times of need. My commitment to our policy holders is to provide them with the best health insurance money can buy. In order to ensure this, Police Health must connect with its members at a personal level so that their needs are identified and met. When I joined the Board in 1995 Police Health had served me very well for 20 years. It was time to give something back and I hoped that my legal training would be able to contribute to the effective running of a highly successful and family friendly fund." |

Kevin Lawton (Vice Chairman)
Governance Committee - chair |
Kevin Lawton is Sergeant at the Henley Beach Operation. An employee of SAPOL since 1985, he became a member of the Board in 1998.
"I have a keen interest in the business operations, financial management and human resources related issues of Police Health. I am especially interested in government legislation and regulation relating to the health industry, for example Lifetime Health Cover and the 30% rebate. I feel these have a direct impact on an individual's attitude toward private health insurance, which in turn influences membership growth. I nominated for the Board because I have a genuine concern for the welfare of fellow police officers, public servants and retired members." |
|
Madeleine Glynn
Governance Committee - member |
Madeleine Glynn is Assistant Commissioner, Southern Operations Service.
She joined SAPOL in 1976 and the Police Health Board in 1998.
"My interest lies in ensuring that Police Health continues to provide excellent service and value for money. I believe it is important in these times that Board members are active in ensuring that the organisation is in the best possible shape to progress and to be certain of being as viable and capable of high service standards in 20 years as it is now. I joined the Board to work with other like-minded people to achieve our goals and to 'give something back'." |
|
Joanne Shanahan
Finance & Audit Committee - member |
Joanne Shanahan is Detective Chief Inspector at the Elizabeth Criminal Investigation Branch. She has been employed by SAPOL since 1981 and has served on the Board of Police Health since 1994.
"As a Board member, the key issue for me is promoting to our broader policing community and their families the benefits of private health insurance in general and membership of Police Health in particular. This is fundamental to maintaining a strong and growing core membership of families connected with policing. I have a keen interest in ensuring balance on the Board by providing a voice to represent the family membership of the Fund. My key focus is on ensuring that the Fund gives the best possible service to all its members." |

Mick O’Neill
Risk Management & Compliance Committee - chair
Finance & Audit Committee - member |
Mick O’Neill, Operations Manager, Vedior Asia Pacific, served as a Police Officer from 1980, (when he joined Police Health) until January 2003.
“As someone who has been given outstanding personal service over the 20 plus years of membership, I feel a connection to the fund beyond the provision of insurance. I believe my policing experience combined with my growing commercial, risk management and organisational development knowledge will add significant value to the Board and the members. It is an exciting time for Police Health and I will strive to contribute to the Board’s ongoing stewardship of this successful and worthwhile fund” |

Philip Vincent
Finance & Audit Committee - chair |
Phil Vincent, Business Manager (Crime Service), joined SAPOL in 2000 and has been a member of the Police Health Board since 2007.
“As a Board member, I am keen to promote the benefits in being a member of Police Health particularly amongst non-sworn employees. I have a young family and an interest in finance which will obviously contribute to my specific focuses. I aim to help in ensuring that Police Health continues to grow whilst providing the best products and benefits to members. I look forward to the opportunity to learn from the current experienced board members and will strive to give as much support and direction as I am able." |
