Electronic Claims

With the majority of extras claims such as dental and optical, many of the health providers can process your claim on the spot using electronic claiming facilities, provided by HICAPS.

Often referred to as “Eftpos style” claiming, simply swipe your membership card and sign to validate the service. Your claim will be automatically lodged with Police Health and we’ll pay the provider directly, leaving you to pay only the out of pocket gap.

To find out if your health provider offers HICAPS electronic claiming, simply look for the HICAPS logo, contact your health provider, or click here to search online.

Please click here for more information on where and how you can access the convenience of Police Health’s electronic claiming - (522KB PDF).

Other Claims

Not all claims can be lodged electronically, with these claims just simply fill out a Police Health Claim Form. Click here to download the form - (219KB PDF).

Send the completed form, together with all the relevant accounts and receipts, to:

Police Health
Reply Paid 6111
Adelaide SA 5000.

If you prefer, just send your claim form through the police internal mail system, marked "Attention to: Police Health".

 How payments will be made

Hospital claims generally come direct to us from the hospital and we send the claim cheque back direct to the hospital, so you won't have to make a claim.

Cheques covering Medigap or extras services will be made payable to you if you've already paid the account, or to the provider of the service if you haven't paid the account. In both instances the cheques will be forwarded to you. If you haven't paid the account, just send the cheque on to the provider together with your portion of the account.

Doctors billing under our Access Gap Cover will normally forward their account direct to us. We will then claim your Medicare entitlements for you and pay that, together with your Police Health benefit, direct to the doctor.

How to fast-track your claims payments

PromptPay

Our PromptPay facility pays your claim cheques direct to your nominated account as an automatic direct credit. Click here to download the claim form (PDF 221KB). When you fill it out, be sure to tick 'yes' to credit direct.

Fax Claim

For claims with paid accounts totalling less then $500, you can fax these accounts together with a completed claim form to Freecall 1800 008 554. In most cases your claim will be processed within 24 hours and deposited direct to your nominated account.
